What to include in your job brief
- Measure the approximate length, width and height of the area. Explain whether the work is a new build, alteration or repair.
- Show the whole space and close-ups of joins, damaged timber or existing finishes. Note steps, slopes and access.
- Describe the material and finish you prefer, whether materials are already supplied and what needs removing.
An example brief
I need a shelf fitted into a study alcove approximately 1.8 metres wide. Photos show both walls and the existing skirting. I would like a painted finish.
